Although referred to by the name of Abdülmecid Efendi Pavilion, the building was built by Mısır Hıdivi Ismail Pasa. Despite being told that it was built by architect Alaxandr Vallaury into a grove of 74 acres between the years of 1880-1895, there is no definitive documentation. Pavilion is the summer residence of the last Caliph Abdülmecid Efendi. The current structure located in a large grove is Selamlık Building. Harem of the buildings and outbuildings of the pavilion were destroyed, even though the monumental garden gate of Harem structures in the direction facing cascading pool is slightly bent, it has reached until today.
The pavilion has three floors, one of which is about 600 square meters. The ground floor entered with a large iwan is quite magnificent. The floor of the entrance door opens to a large tiled hall; the pool was later removed and transferred to another place. An iwan is located on the right of the hall; monumental stairs are located on the left to the upper floor. There are four rooms in the four corners. A spacious room opening onto the rear garden is located at the end of the hall to the entrance.
The building was deformed substantially as a result of being abandoned for many years and was partially restored in 1987 and 1988. In the restoration in 1987, its water-permeable roof was renovated together with carrier systems, zinc streams and gutters, tiles were replaced, then subsequently added central heating’s chimney was demolished under the eaves level. Today, central heating is in a single storey outbuilding building 50 meters away from the structure. During the restoration in 1987, all the electrical system of the building was renewed. In 1988, exterior painting and the restoration of pencil works were addressed and it was renovated with the cooperation of the students Marmara University Faculty of Fine Arts building facade.
